Side dishes often make the meal! Think about the holidays - While the turkey or the ham or the duck are at the center of it all, it's what surrounds the main dish that personalize the meal for us. You will hear people saying "Pass the Dressing!" or "Where is the Waldorf Salad?" or even " It wouldn't be ??? without the _____" My mom made a side dish that was popular in the 1960's and 70's made with instant pistachio pudding and Cool Whip that we still referred to today as "The green stuff Mom makes"
We all have stories, they are part of what makes up family. |
When I started this page I had all of the recipes under this one header. The results where as divers and mixed up as a holiday table or buffet. As I added more sides I realized I needed to separate them out farther. So now I have as subsets - Fruit Sides, Grain Sides and Vegetable Sides. Where two may intersect, such as Tabbouleh, the dish is listed both as a grain dish and as a vegetable dish. Therefore, there is a bit of cross over repetition. So check out the various side dishes by clicking on the sub-headings below or go to the Table of Contents and look for something specific.
