I learned to cook when I was a kid. Not everybody does, I know that. Weird. My parents were big on my brother and me being able to do stuff. After I started baking and decorating cakes for other folks my brother thought I shouldn't have to bake my own birthday cakes so he would make me a three layer German's Chocolate cake for my birthday, with extra frosting of course!
In Girl Scouts we cooked our own meals while camping and had Spaghetti Dinners at Award Banquets and fund raisers. And then one summer, when I was just out of high school, the camp director, nurse, handy man, some of the counselors and the head and assistant cooks walked out on my girl scout councils summer camp with two weeks left. The cry went out and my Senior Adviser called us up looking for volunteers to come to camp and fill in. I was only able to help out in the kitchen on the weekends but it set the tone for the next several summers, Head Cook whoa! From scratch breads, rolls, biscuits, muffins, cinnamon rolls, cakes, cookies, brownies; then there were soups, sandwiches, veggies, tacos...
I moved on to cooking for people in their homes, meals tucked into the refrigerator and freezer to be eaten when needed. I cook for my dad and a couple of friends, and of course here at home.
You ask questions or for an opinion...boy do I have answers and opinions! I hope they help. Feel free to contact me using any of the contact forms sprinkled throughout this site or down below. Cathy
